On Sept 3-6, 2014 the 8th World Congress of Perinatal Medicine for developing countries was held in Cancun Mexico. During this congress, a symposium entitled "Perinatal Health Promotion and Interventions in the Asia-Oceania Region" was conducted by the Federation of Asia Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS). The symposium consisted of four topics and delivered by experts from the FAOPS. Speakers came from Japan, Bangladesh, India and the Philippines. The symposium tackled the following topics: 1) "The Role of Antenatal Imaging on Maternal and Neonatal Health" by Prof. Ichiro Kawabata of Japan; 2) "Cost-Effective Modalities for Improved Outcomes of Premature/Low Birth Weight Infants" by Prof Ranjan Kumar Pejaver of India; 3) "Preventing Healthcare-Associated Neonatal Sepsis: What Works?" by Dr. Socorro De Leon-Mendoza of the Philippines; 4) "The Role of the FAOPS in Perinatal Health Promotion" by Prof Mohammod Shahidullah of Bangladesh. The symposium was well-received and appreciated by the audience in attendance.
