Report of the 10th World Congress of Perinatal Medicine.

The Congress was a well organized meet at the picturesque resort town. President Frank Chervenak and the incoming President XavierCarbonell-Estrany along with the local organizing committee ensured that all was well. Scientific sessions were of high academic standards and went on in eight concurrent sessions . The International leaders of Perinatology participated. It was a meeting where people shared their experiences, faculty taught, delegates learnt, interacted and discussed various issues.
As Far as FAOPS was concerned, it was the first time that an exclusive session of one and a half hours was allotted to FAOPS. The session was chaired by the President of FAOPS Professor Ranjan Kumar Pejaver,India. Professor Shahidulla, Bangladesh, Treasurer of FAOPS spoke on the current status of Perinatal care in the region with relevance to Millenium developmental goals. Professor Ikenoue ,Japan, Immediate past President of FAOPS gave a lecture on the current status of FHR monitoring . Professor Ranjan Kumar Pejaver spoke on the dilemmas of a Neonatologist in a developing country.
In addition to this Professor Ranjan Kumar Pejaver, spoke at the Room air resuscitation symposium on Current recommendations in day to day practice of Neonatal Resuscitation. He also delivered another lecture on Early vs Delayed cord clamping. Professor Ranjan Kumar was also a judge for the Sakamoto award paper, sponsored by the Japanese Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine.
At the Governing Board meeting of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine, the office bearers of the FAOPS were invited as special invitees. President Chervenak expressed that WAPM is keen to have a link with FAOPS and expressed that the beginning made at this Congress will continue to progress.
